PHOTONICS DESIGN & CONSULTING
01
Design & Layout
We specialize in the design and layout of integrated photonic devices, primarily silicon and silicon nitride. We have access to the process design kits (PDKs) of leading photonics foundries in the U.S., Europe, and Asia, and we use leading photonics design and layout software.

02
PDK Component Libraries
Foundries and developers can leverage Spark's photonics design expertise to create and build out their integrated photonics PDKs to better serve their internal and customer needs.
03
Education & Consulting
We offer to share our expertise with others. Perhaps you need to train your staff on circuit layout using KLayout. Maybe you need help writing an SBIR proposal for a photonics application. We can work with you on any project where silicon photonics expertise is needed, and help guide you to other helpful resources as well.
ABOUT
SPARK
PHOTONICS
OUR PRINCIPLES
Spark Photonics was founded on the principles of integrity, innovation, and quality. Spark works at the frontier of scientific and engineering knowledge, in a realm where intellectual property, time to market, and cost effectiveness are paramount. By always adhering to our principles, we strive to delight our customers and serve as a cornerstone of the growing integrated photonics industry.
OUR VISION
Spark Photonics translates photonics visions into reality.

Our vision is to build the integrated photonics ecosystem. The integrated photonics community has been building in prominence over the last few decades, and we believe the industry is now at an inflection point that will benefit from the customer-centric design services we provide.
WHO WE ARE
Spark Photonics is an independent pure-play dedicated commercial PIC design house based in the United States.
We are a team of photonics and optics experts with several decades of combined experience. Spark was founded by Al Kapoor, chairman of Syntec Optics in Rochester, NY, and Kevin McComber, MIT PhD in integrated photonics.
Spark is based in Waltham, Massachusetts, USA.
